We provided offices and apartments of an elegance and quality befitting one of London's most exclusive districts.
This multi-faceted project involved the redevelopment of a prime site on the only square in the St James’s district of the City of Westminster.
The scheme comprised the refurbishment of the Grade II listed 5 St James’s Square and the redevelopment of No 6 to provide Category A new-build offices, 13 fully fitted-out luxury apartments, an art gallery and underground parking.
Among a number of beneficial temporary works solutions devised by our in-house Design Group, the use of sheet piling as an alternative to underpinning allowed work to be undertaken closer to the site boundary, increasing the lettable area for the client.
6 St James’s Square secured LEED Platinum certification, the project team also successfully achieving BREEAM Excellent and Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3.
The project trialled a low-energy lighting and emergency lighting system using energy efficient bulbs. The system was designed to function with photocell or timer technology to further reduce consumption.
The project won Silver at the 2013 Considerate Constructors Scheme National Site Awards.
