The research centre is the first building in Scotland to be rated BREEAM 'Outstanding'.
The new research centre provides the University of St Andrews with 2,400m2 of biological laboratories and 600m2 of research offices.
A highly serviced four-storey building with rooftop plantroom, the new centre connects at every level to the adjacent Purdie building, one level of which was also refurbished to provide laboratory spaces and offices.
The complex is the first building in Scotland and the first laboratory of its kind in the UK to be rated BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ .
The research facility was highly commended at the Carbon Trust Scotland Low Carbon Building Awards in 2012.
