Our focus on understanding the needs of pupils and staff was central to the redevelopment of Sarum Academy.
The redevelopment of Sarum Academy provides the Salisbury community with a state-of-the-art education facility.
A new two-storey building wraps around a refurbished sports hall, providing a central circulation area, theatre, hair and beauty salon, library, learning resource centre, science and art classrooms, dining area, offices and kitchens.
An existing building was converted to provide a sixth form centre and office facility.
An extensive programme of value engineering was undertaken to ensure the viability of the scheme, with appropriate solutions developed to deliver the high standards required.
The building is designed to minimise energy use, with teaching spaces naturally cross ventilated where possible and the maximum use made of natural light. Carbon emissions are further reduced by the incorporation of solar collectors and a photovoltaic array.
With operations taking place alongside the operational school, deliveries were scheduled to avoid pupil and staff arrival and departure times.
