We have an exciting opportunity for a Chief Engineer to join our London team.

As Chief Engineer you will be entirely responsible for the technical aspects of a project. A senior member of the project team, reporting directly to the Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the timely execution of operations in both the pre-construction and construction phases of the project. You will also occasionally act as Project Manager during periods of illness or holiday.

The role requires a strong leader who can manage a team of engineers and works staff to deliver a project. You will manage a number of high level of interfaces between internal departments and external agencies, such as architects, engineers, construction workers, subcontractors, client agents, clerk of works and site staff. You will also proactively identify and mitigate programme risks.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Ensuring the works are technically compliant with the contract documents, specifications and drawings
• Overseeing the effective planning and maintenance of the programme
• Coordinating design information requirements and assisting in the preparation of the procurement schedule
• Preparing internal and external reports on the project status
• Overseeing all onsite and offsite construction, and monitoring compliance with building, safety and environmental regulations
• Ensuring that method statements, risk assessments and inspection & test plans are reviewed and approved
• Ensuring quality construction standards and suitable construction techniques are adopted and maintained in order to provide a defect-free end product
